Jaime Bayly: “Maduro’s wife went to Punta Cana on a plane that Putin sent him, and then the dictator left if they took him out”
Peruvian journalist Jaime Bayly revealed Thursday that Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores, left Venezuela for the Dominican Republic aboard a plane made available by Putin and that the Venezuelan dictator would have followed her if Operation had not failed on Tuesday. Libertad, led by Juan Guaidó to recover democracy in the Caribbean country.
“Maduro took his wife out on Tuesday, April 30, from Caracas,” Bayly said during his program on Mega TV. “Cilia Flores went to Punta Cana in the Bombardier Global Express that Putin sent her,” he said.
Bayly also explained that the dictator and his wife chose the Dominican Republic as a destination because there they acquired, with the complicity of the local government, a mansion in an exclusive area called Cap Cana.
“They have paid 18 million dollars in cash,” Bayly revealed. “Now Maduro’s wife is there, and Maduro would leave if they took him out, if Padrino honored his commitment, Maduro would now be sleeping in this house.”
“That’s the house, the tropical dacha that awaits Maduro when it finishes falling,” he said.
The journalist also revealed that the Russian president participated in negotiations between the United States and the Chavez military leadership to get Maduro out of power. In the framework of these talks, Putin undertook to recognize Guaidó as president, as long as the latter paid Russia everything that Venezuela owes him. “The Americans were willing to overtake Guaidó those 20 billion dollars to be paid immediately,” he said. The Russian president also did not want Maduro in his country. “Putin had sent him a plane, but he said: ‘Do not come to Russia, we do not love you here.'”
In addition, Bayly gave details of the negotiation between Padrino and the US and said that Operation Libertad failed because Cuban intelligence intercepted the talks that the defense minister had with the United States.
“He was the key man,” Bayly said during his program on Mega TV. According to him, the plan was scheduled to take place on May 1. “Godfather had pledged to back Guaidó, to meet Guaidó in La Carlota and mobilize all the Armed Forces in favor of Guaidó and let Maduro escape,” he said.
However, Cuban intelligence in Caracas detected that the plan was underway, which was why it was advanced to April 30, the day on which it failed. “It is not known if it was because he cowered or because it was an overacting to tell Maduro everything or because his request was denied,” said Bayly.
According to Bayly, the general had several guarantees: he would not be persecuted and could keep the “ill-gotten” fortune that he accumulated during the years under the army. But on Monday, when they asked him to advance the plan for Tuesday morning, he asked for “something crazy”: he agreed to take Maduro only if he was named president instead of Guaidó. “It seemed like a request made deliberately to make the plan fail,” Bayly said, citing sources in Washington.
Finally, Guaidó led the rebellion on Tuesday along with a score of uniformed officers against Maduro, who later described the act as “skirmish.”
After the event, Guaidó received on Tuesday and Wednesday a broad support of his supporters in the streets, who came out to demand the exit of Maduro from power and left four people dead.
Venezuela has been experiencing a high political tension since last January, when Maduro swore a new term of 6 years, which is not recognized by the opposition or by the international community, while the head of Parliament, Juan Guaidó, proclaimed a Government interim that has the support of more than 50 countries.
In parallel, the oil nation suffers the worst economic crisis in its history, which generates daily protests to denounce the severe shortage of food and medicine and the terrible provision of public services.
