Venezuelan doctors who migrated to Italy and Spain have been called by the Health authorities of each government in order to add them to the health personnel who are attending the Coronavirus pandemic.
As explained to Diario Las Américas, Marinellys Tremamunno, president of the association Venezuela: the Piccola Venezia Onlus, based in Rome, the Italian government approved that all doctors with foreign degrees who are in the nation can exercise, “to be hired to attend to the coronavirus emergency ”.
He assured that these are the Venezuelan doctors who are in Italy. “We are already processing the hiring of doctors in Lombardy and soon in Venneto.”
This opens the possibility for a group of 150 doctors, 30 nurses and 20 biologists, all Venezuelans, to exercise their profession and help in the crisis, he said.
In addition, he indicated that it is totally false that doctors are being recruited in Venezuela to be taken to Italy, and indicated that the decree only includes doctors who are already in Italy and who for any reason have not been able to legalize their titles in the country.
2,000 thousand Venezuelan doctors in Spain
For his part, the journalist David Placer reported that the Spanish government summoned Venezuelan doctors who do not have their homologated titles to appear in hospital establishments to support the emergency caused by the coronavirus.
According to DLC, there are about 2,000 Venezuelan doctors in Spain, but it is estimated that the number may be higher because many have dual Spanish-Venezuelan nationality but they are not added to the statistics as Venezuelans.
