The ambassador of Venezuela appointed by the president in charge Juan Guaidó in the Dominican Republic, Eusebio Carlino, said in a statement that what is happening is not a coup, but the beginning of the cessation of Nicolás Maduro’s usurpation.

Carlino explained that this is an action that seeks to initiate the process to give way to the transitional government that definitively calls for free elections.

He also clarified that being Juan Guaidó the current president in charge of Venezuela and recognized by 56 countries, including the Dominican Republic, is not a coup d’état.
