The former president of the Senate and former secretary general of the Dominican Liberation Party, Reinaldo Pared Pérez, allegedly died of a suicide in a summer residence in Juan Dolio.

Political and legislative career.
Pared Pérez was climbing in his political career, becoming elected alderman in the National District City Council during the periods 1986-1990 and 1990-1994, the last cycle in which he was the spokesperson for the PLD Aldermen’s Block.
In 1994 he joined the Central Committee of the PLD and since 1999 he was part of the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party.
During the periods 1996-1998 and 1998-2002, Reinaldo was a deputy, becoming the vice-spokesperson and later spokesperson for the PLD bloc.
At the beginning of the 2000s, he won the general secretariat of the PLD, a position in which he remained until 2020 and he himself decided not to continue, by which time cancer had already been detected.
In 2006 he was elected Senator of the National District by the PLD), a position in which he was re-elected for the periods 2010-2016 and 2016-2020.
