In the hypothetical case of a second round, 60 percent of those surveyed by the Greenberg-Diario Libre survey answered that they would vote for the candidate of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Luis Abinader, and 35% said they would do so for the candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Gonzalo Castillo.

The question they answered was the following: “Now imagine that there is a second round for the presidential elections between (Rotate) Luis Abinader and Gonzalo Castillo. Who would you vote for? ”

The investigation, which was released on Wednesday and whose numbers indicate that Abinader would win in the first round with 56 percent of the votes, was carried out from June 11 to 16. The interviewees were 1,057 Dominican adults, of whom 664 were identified as likely voters (representing 63% of the population eligible to vote).

If a second round occurs, these would be held on July 26, 21 days after the first, as provided by resolution 42-2020 of the Central Electoral Board that postponed the presidential elections that were scheduled for May 17.

The margin of error of the Greemberg-Diario Libre random sample of 1,057 and 664 interviewees is plus or minus 3.0 and 3.8 points, respectively, at 95 percent confidence intervals.

The survey was designed and analyzed by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR), in collaboration with Bully Pulpit Interactive.
