Washington.- The dominican political leader, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, spoke with Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), about the current electoral crisis resulting from the suspension of municipal elections and reiterated his vote of confidence to the audit that will be carried out by the experts of this body.

For Bisonó this situation “has deeply hurt the credibility of the country, generating a climate of distrust as it was not seen in decades.” In addition, the current deputy said that it is vital for democracy to determine what happened on February 16 in the Dominican Republic.

“As a parliamentarian and Dominican I reiterate my vote of confidence so that the audit to be carried out with OAS experts determines what happened. Only then can one believe in an outcome, now that no local organization has the independence or credibility necessary for citizens to exercise their right to vote in peace, ”he emphasized during his visit to the OAS headquarters.

Bison, who chairs the PGA International Council for the second consecutive year, was in charge of signing an agreement of understanding with Almagro in which the Global Action Parliamentarians Network and the OAS formalize cooperation ties in defense and promotion of democracy.

The Global Action Parliament (PGA) is a non-profit network of more than 1,300 parliamentarians in more than 136 elected parliaments, aims to promote democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

The firm was attended by deputies and members of the PGA Karina Banfi (Argentina), a member of the Bicameral Commission for the Promotion and Monitoring of Communication; Juan Manuel López (Argentina), member of the Permanent Bicameral Commission for Monitoring and Control of the Public Ministry of the Nation; Jorge Cálix (Honduras), Presidential Candidate for the Freedom and Refoundation Party (Free); member of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, International Relations, President of the Electoral Justice Commission; Armando Armas (Venezuela), President of the Committee on Foreign Relations; Mr. David Donat Cattin (Italy), General Secretary of PGA.
