Leonel Fernández receives Maduro’s usurper ambassador in the Dominican Republic

The former president and presidential candidate of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández, held a meeting Friday with ambassadors of the Latin American countries.

At the meeting where they discussed issues concerning the current agenda and the future of the EU-LAC Foundation, he received the usurper ambassador, from the Nicolás Maduro regime, Ali de Jesús Uzcátegui Duque.

On February 26, the head of the Dominican diplomacy Miguel Vargas Maldonado assumed the matter concerning the designation made by the Acting President of Venezuela Juan Guaidó, to appoint a diplomatic representative of Venezuela on the island.

The foreign minister recalled that the country set its official position in that regard on January 10 when it supported the resolution of the Organization of American States (OAS) that declared the government of Nicolás Maduro illegal.

Likewise, the country the Dominican government issued a statement acknowledging the interim government of Guaidó.

“The diplomatic processes already establish what will be done in that sense,” said Vargas.

On February 19, Guaidó appointed a group of diplomatic representatives in several countries, including the Dominican Republic, where he located Eusebio Carlino.
