Leonel rejects primary results and affirms the popular will was adulterated
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.- Former President Leonel Fernández said Sunday that “the will of the people was adulterated,” and said they won the internal elections, according to their projections.
Fernández, three times president of the Republic, rejected the results of the primaries, ensuring that the Central Electoral Board did not allow the verification of the software of the equipment and did not disclose the results of the research conducted by the universities on the system.
In a press conference, Fernández denounced that there is a manipulation of the algorithms in the vote automation equipment.
Moments before the end of the counting process, the candidate said that his technical team will provide more details tomorrow.
On his side, Vinicio Castillo said that “Julio César Castaños, against all odds, did what he felt like”, at the time of joining the fraud claims of the candidate in the process of simultaneous primary elections.
He said that the president of the JCE ignored the recommendations of international organizations on the comparison of votes.
