The Minister of Public Health, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, reported that the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) is not circulating in the country, although the first case of the pandemic that has affected various nations of the world has already been registered in the Dominican territory.
In a press conference in the Orlando Martínez room of the National Palace, he informed that the population should not be scared and that the viruses that have occurred in recent days are common (flu and influenza).
He indicated that while there is no local transmission it can be confirmed that the COVID-19 virus does not circulate in the country
He reported that so far there are 36 people who are being given intra-home follow-up.
He also said that the patient of French nationality, who was admitted to the Plaza de la Salud and then transferred to the Ramón de Lara hospital was discarded with COVID-19.
He also reported that a three-year-old Swiss national and a young Italian were discharged and some left for their country of origin.
“We have no community circulation of the virus today,” said the Minister of Public Health.
On Monday morning, the president of the Republic Danilo Medina met with the directors of the National Health Service, Promese CAL and ARS Senasa.
