10,000 Venezuelan passports sent to embassies and consulates

Gustavo Vizcaíno, director of the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Immigration (Saime), announced that he sent 93 diplomatic pouches containing more than 10,000 passports, to be delivered to embassies and consulates, to be delivered to Venezuelan citizens living in the country. The documents of international identification have been distributed in the following manner: Panama City (Panama): 443 passports, 329 extensions; Santiago de Chile (Chile): 949 passports, 492 extensions; Medellín (Colombia): 146 passports; Mexico City (Mexico): 268 passports, 176 extensions; Barcelona (Spain): 305 passports, 114 extensions, Vigo (Spain): 393 passports, 74 extensions; Tenerife (Spain): 246 passports; Bilbao (Spain): 198 passports; Frankfurt (Germany): 149 passports, Paris (France): 328 passports, 159 extensions; Naples (Italy): 270 passports, 183 extensions; Washington (USA): 346 passports, 135 extensions; New Orleans (USA): 399 passports, 159 extensions and Chicago (USA): 268 passports, 176 extensions.

“The ambassadors are informed about the expedited delivery of passports and extensions to our compatriots, and diplomatic missions between consulates and embassies will receive the bags in the coming days,” Vizcaíno explained.

He also pointed out the activation of the process for the cedulación, which allows the representatives of minors to have abroad, request or request the issuance of a passport before the diplomatic offices.

Likewise, the measure that prohibited minors residing outside of Venezuela, carrying out immigration proceedings without their respective identity document, was null and void.

Vizcaíno stressed that this exception will remain until the youth has reached the age of majority. Subsequently, he must return to the country and be sent as an untimely Venezuelan, in order to process any document he requires.

“Thanks to our systems engineers, it was possible to eliminate the prohibition to throw the system, that is, if a minor did not have an identity card when he was nine years old, he could not carry out any procedure before the Saime”, reiterated Gustavo Vizcaino.

For her part, the President of the Citizen’s Control for Security, Defense and the National Armed Forces, Rocío San Miguel described as “insufficient” the sending of passports abroad.
