DR exceeds 15 thousand infections by COVID-19; deceased increase to 460

The Ministry of Public Health reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country increased to 15,073, while the deceased went from 458 to 460.

The head of the Ministry, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, when reading the bulletin, maintained that in the last 24 hours there have been 272 new cases and two deaths from the disease, with a fatality rate of 3.05%.

It also indicated that 8,285 people have recovered from the disease and 54,535 suspected cases were ruled out through laboratory tests.

Of the total affected, 588 are hospitalized, of which there are 123 in the intensive care unit (ICU), 58 of them in ventilation.
 
Sánchez Cárdenas reported that 69,608 PCR tests have been carried out in the country, the only ones that confirm the diagnosis of the coronavirus.
 
In the last four weeks, the positivity in the processed samples is 18.96%.

The data indicates that 76.30% of the deaths have occurred in the municipalities of San Francisco de Macorís, Distrito Nacional, Santiago, Santo Domingo Este, La Vega, Santo Domingo Norte, Santo Domingo Oeste, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Salcedo and La Romana.
 
70.43% of the fatal victims were men, with an average age of 65 years and with pre-existing diseases such as high blood pressure (26.30%) and diabetes (22.17%).
