The health authorities of the United States have reported a case of the so-called monkeypox, detected in a man in the city of Dallas, Texas, who had returned to his country on July 9 after a trip to Nigeria.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC for its acronym in English), detailed that the infected man is stable in a hospital where he was admitted and where the disease was detected.
The American arrived at the Love Field airport in Dallas, so the authorities are already working on tracking down the people with whom he shared a flight on that occasion and following them up, to avoid a possible outbreak of the so-called monkey pox, although they emphasized that this is unlikely.
Likewise, Clay Jenkins, a Dallas County judge, made a call to maintain calm in the population, as he said that the disease is not a cause for alarm, since it is not a threat to citizens.
How is monkey pox spread?
The disease is usually transmitted by air, although in the current aid that the population is using face masks due to the coronavirus pandemic; Furthermore, the CDC explains that monkeypox was discovered in 1958 when two outbreaks of a smallpox-like disease occurred in colonies of monkeys used for scientific purposes, hence the name. And it was in 1970 when the first human case was recorded.
