Plane that supposedly would take Maduro out of Venezuela landed last night in Punta Cana
The aircraft that was supposed to be used to take President Nicolás Maduro out of Venezuela at moments when the opposition tried to give him a coup d’état, would have landed at an airport in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday night, when the situation in the Latin American country seemed be calm
The TC-TSR registration plane would have departed from Russia to Caracas at 7:22 a.m. yesterday, after the release of the opposition Leopoldo López from the house arrest, and after the announcement of the self-proclaimed interim president Juan Guaidó that the citizenship will be launched into the streets. The aircraft would have arrived in Venezuela at 8:04 p.m.
According to the Venezuelan opposition, this ship was going to be used by President Nicolás Maduro to leave the country, a decision that was pushed back, according to the United States, by pressure from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Flight information is reported by Flightradar, which tracks international air travel.
The flight coincides with the events, but no official source or means of international communication has confirmed the reason for the flight, nor its connection with Nicolás Maduro.
Despite a trip of more than 12 hours, the Bombardier Global Express aircraft was raised one hour after arrival at Simón Bolívar International Airport (Maiquetía), and landed at 10:31 at night, 1 hour and 20 minutes later, at the Punta Cana International Airport.
The head of US diplomacy, Mike Pompeo, said yesterday that President Nicolás Maduro was ready to leave Venezuela but Russia dissuaded him.
“He had a plane on the runway, he was ready to leave this morning, for all we know, and the Russians told him he should stay,” Pompeo said in an interview with CNN in which he said the president planned to flee to Havana .
When asked if he had a message for the president, Pompeo simply said “turn on the plane.”
Maduro rejects US version and opposition
The Venezuelan leader, Nicolás Maduro, denied that he had intended to leave power and take refuge in Cuba, as stated by Mike Pompeo, who said he lacked “seriousness.”
“Mike Pompeo said that I, Maduro, had a plane on fire to go to Cuba, to flee, and the Russians got him off the plane and forbade him to leave the country. Mr. Pompeo, please, what lack of seriousness, “said Maduro during an address transmitted on mandatory radio and television.
In the same, was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino, and the number two considered Chavez, Diosdado Cabello.
