The United States recorded a new bleak record on Wednesday with nearly 2,600 deaths linked to the new coronavirus in 24 hours, the worst daily balance for a country worldwide, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.

The United States mourned the deaths of 2,569 people between 8:30 pm local time Wednesday and the same time the day before, according to continuously updated university figures. Thus, the world’s leading power totals 28,325 deaths from the pandemic.
