The National Hurricane Center of the United States predicted that tropical storm Gonzalo will begin to affect some locations in the Lesser Antilles early next Saturday.
This is in accordance with the eighth warning on the newsletter of the aforementioned climate institution, in which it also updated its hurricane alert to include Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, which accompany Barbados.
According to the report, Gonzalo is 1,425 kilometers from these Windward Islands, which make up a large part of the Lesser Antilles, with a current movement of 20 kilometers per hour (KPH) and maximum sustained winds of 100 KPH.
In addition, the National Hurricane Center predicted that the storm would hit the southern part of the Windward Islands on Friday night, and would traverse these nations on Saturday and Sunday.
Similarly, they affirmed that said tropical storm could become a hurricane this day or Friday, projecting a strengthening of the natural phenomenon in the coming days.
The report defined Gonzalo as “a small storm”, adding that the winds it produces potentially extend up to 55 kilometers outside its center.
