President Donald Trump warned Americans on Tuesday that the next two weeks would be “very, very painful,” as the number of new coronavirus cases continues to rise in the United States.

“We are going through two very difficult weeks,” added the US president during a press conference at the White House. “I want all Americans to be ready for the difficult days ahead,” he said in a low tone, while predicting that by the end of that period it would be possible “to start seeing a real light at the end of the tunnel.”

According to the Johns Hopkins University count, there have been more than 184,000 cases of COVID-19 contamination and more than 3,700 deaths in the United States.
The number of deaths continues to accelerate, especially in New York, the American epicenter of the pandemic.

The White House estimates that the disease will kill 100,000 to 240,000 people if current restrictions are met, compared to the 1.5 to 2.2 million deaths that would occur if no action was taken.

On Sunday he had mentioned a range of between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths.
Based on these projections, experts from the US task force have advocated the continuation of the partial or total containment measures for 30 days, as announced by Donald Trump on Sunday, assuring that they had a positive effect.

“There is no vaccine or magic therapy, it is just a matter of behavior,” said Dr. Deborah Birx, coordinator of the US coronavirus team.
