Military tanqueta runs over demonstrators supporters of Guaidó near military base in Caracas
A military vehicle of the Venezuelan National Guard has run in Caracas to a group of supporters of the interim president Juan Guaidó, who seconded the call of the opposition leader Nicolás Maduro. The incident took place this Tuesday near the base of La Carlota, on a stretch of the Generalísimo Francisco Fajardo highway, which crosses the Venezuelan capital. The city is the scene of the protests incited by Guaidó against the Chavez regime after the liberation, by a group of rebel soldiers, of the opposition leader Leopoldo López early in the morning.
The tank has crossed the median of the highway and has attacked a large group of demonstrators. Some have fallen to the ground and have had to be taken care of by other participants in the protest, who have moved them by their own means off the road.
The outrage lasted just six seconds before the vehicle, which at no time stopped its march, continue its route and rejoined the lane of the highway where it circulated before the crash. Previous moments, a group of protesters had thrown stones and had beaten with sticks another tank of the convoy that patrolled the area where the event occurred.
It is not known if the people who were run over have been seriously injured and if the vehicles came from the base of La Carlota, where part of the opposition to Maduro had gathered since early Tuesday.
