“Take a break” new Instagram function in Latin America

339views

The famous Instagram social network officially launched the “Take a break” or “Take a Break” function in Latin America, which will begin to be implemented first, in Argentina and Mexico, and then it will be activated for the rest of the countries in the region.

With this function, the network will allow you to configure alerts for the continued use of social networks.

“If someone has been scrolling through the Instagram feed for a given time, we’ll ask them to take a break from the platform and suggest setting reminders to take more breaks in the future. We will also show you advice, backed by thought-provoking specialists, ”said Adam Mosseri, director of Instagram in the official statement.

“Take a Break” has been in beta since last November and launched in select countries in December, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The idea is to try to give people more control over how they spend their time on social media.

How will it work?

Instagram will display a notification at the top of the screen when the “Take a break” option is activated. It will say something like “regular breaks can help you rest. You can set reminders to take a break (when using the app).”

The time options that Instagram will offer to set reminders are: 10 minutes, 20 minutes and 30 minutes. On TikTok, the options are 40 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes.

Once this limit is reached, an Instagram message will appear asking you to stop and do something else for a while; like taking a deep breath, writing down your thoughts somewhere, listening to your favorite music, or doing something on your to-do list.

  1. Tap on your Instagram profile icon (lower right corner with the app open).
