Venezuelan General Clíver Alcalá Cordones surrendered in Colombia and will be extradited to the United States
The (retired) Venezuelan general Clíver Alcalá Cordones turned himself in before the Colombian authorities on Friday and will be extradited to the United States, the newspaper El Tiempo reported. The retired military officer reportedly presented himself at the National Intelligence Directorate.
According to the same source, the Venezuelan official will be transferred this afternoon on a DEA plane from Bogotá, where he was transferred.
On Thursday, exclusively for Infobae, the general had confirmed that he would turn himself in, after the United States Department of Justice included him in a list of solicitors, offering $ 10 million for his head and that of four other hierarchs. Venezuelans wanted for narcoterrorism.
Then, the ex-military man expressed his indignation that he has been included, along with those who in the past were his allies in the Bolivarian revolution, but that he has been facing for a few years.
Alcalá Cordones lived two years ago in Barranquilla and claims to be facing the Nicolás Maduro government. He also revealed what is in the hands of a campaign of destruction by the Venezuelan government, and described as “an extremely uncomfortable situation the appointment that the US government has just made.”
“The weapons seized in Colombia belonged to the Venezuelan people, within the framework of a pact or an agreement signed by President (Juan) Guaidó, Mr. JJ Rendón, Mr. (Sergio) Vergara and American advisers,” he said, referring the Colombian operation that on Tuesday kidnapped 26 AR-15 assault rifles and various accessories on the highway between the cities of Barranquilla and Santa Marta,. “Mr. Guaidó also signed that contract,” he added.
